It may have been an unremarkable final, but it was certainly the end to a remarkable story. Under their maverick manager, Brian Clough, Nottingham Forest, a relatively small English provincial club, had won European club football’s biggest prize by beating Malmo 1-0. In a competition that had started with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool, it was Forest who ran out winners. They had shown what man management and teamwork could achieve.
Here is a photograph of Trevor Francis scoring the winning goal in the 1979 European Cup Final.
The item was personally signed at a signing session carried out and attended by Allstarsignings, in Birmingham, 25th October 2022.
